To advance to the championship game, Brydone won 6-3 over Ross Whyte (Aberdeen, SCO) in the semifinals of the 2018 The Dumfries Open in Dumfries, Scotland; and won 8-2 over Cameron McNay (Dumfries, SCO) in the quarterfinals.
 
Brydone finished 5-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Brydone defeated Rebecca Morrison (Stirling, SCO) 8-3, then won 9-6 against Andrew Reed (Kent, ENG) and 10-1 against Grant Barr (Perth, SCO). Brydone won 8-1 against Andrew Woolston (Kent, ENG), then won 9-3 against Garry Coombs (Hawarden, WAL) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the The Dumfries Open, Brydone take home 6.637 world rankings points along with the $683CDN prize, remaining in 60th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of -0.238 after improving upon their best so far this season.
