Vaughan went on to lose 5-3 against James Simonds (Saint John, NB). Vaughan responded with a 10-2 win over Moe Gautreau (Miramichi, NB). Vaughan won 6-3 against Glenn Daigle (Rexton, NB) in their final qualifying round match.
