Gunnlaugson finished 2-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gunnlaugson defeated Ross LaVallee (Winnipeg, MB) 11-2, then won 9-4 against Jed Brundidge (St. Paul, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Cargill Curling Training Centre Icebreaker Championship title, Gunnlaugson earned 27.203 world rankings points along with the $2,230CDN first prize cheque. Gunnlaugson move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 24.314 points improving upon their best 2 results so far this season, ranking 17th overall with 236.855 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
