James Grattan (Oromocto, NB) lost 6-5 to John Willsey (Mississauga, ON) in the Final of the St. Thomas Curling Classic, held October 21 - 23, 2022 at the St. Thomas Curling Club in St. Thomas, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Grattan won 4-2 over Alex Champ (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) in the semifinals of the 2022 St. Thomas Curling Classic in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada; and won 8-4 over Travis Fanset (St Thomas, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2022 St. Thomas Curling Classic in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada;
Grattan finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Grattan defeated Carter Bryant (Guelph , ON) 8-2, then went on to lose 6-4 against Champ. Grattan lost 10-9 to Jason Camm (Navan, ON) where Grattan responded with a 6-2 win over Jed Brundidge (St. Paul, MN). Grattan won 9-4 against Pat Ferris (Grimsby, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the St. Thomas Curling Classic, Grattan take home 13.750 world rankings points along with the $1,800CDN prize, moving up 8 spots the World Ranking Standings into 68th place overall with 55.971 total points. Grattan ranks 60th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 22.750 points earned so far this season.
