Mike McEwen (Saskatoon, SK) finished 2-3 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Jongduk Park (Gangwon, KOR) 7-4, then went on to lose 8-7 against Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI). McEwen lost 7-1 to Yannick Schwaller (Geneve, SUI) where McEwen responded with a 9-4 win over Kyle Waddell (Hamilton, SCO). McEwen went on to lose 6-0 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.

McEwen earned 5.250 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 12 of the event schedule, McEwen did not improve upon their best events, dropping from 18th to 20th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 166.383 total points. McEwen ranks 12th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 63.750 points earned so far this season.
