Ross Whyte (Stirling, SCO) won 7-6 over James Craik (Forfar, SCO) in the Final of the Scottish Curling Championships, held February 4 - 10 in Dumfries, Scotland.
Whyte finished 8-0 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Whyte defeated Gavin Cameron (Moray, SCO) 8-2, then won 7-3 against Orrin Carson (Stirling, SCO) and 8-6 against Kyle Waddell (Hamilton, SCO). Whyte won 6-2 against Arran Thomson (Perth, SCO), then won 10-8 against Craik and 9-2 against Fraser Swanston (Forfar, SCO). Whyte won 8-2 against Bruce Mouat (STIRLING, SCO), then won 10-2 against Ross Craik (Stirling, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Scottish Curling Championships Championship title, Whyte earned 41.250 world rankings points, remaining in 4th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 13.75 after improving upon their best so far this season. Whyte ranks 4th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 323.250 points earned so far this season.
