Sean Murray (Pittsburgh, PA) won 7-2 over Darryl Sobering (Denver, CO) in the Final of the Kalamazoo Classic, held October 15 - 16, 2016 at the Kalamazoo Curling Club in Kalamazoo, United States. To advance to the championship game, Murray won 7-6 over Scott Strouse (Midland , MI) in the semifinals of the Kalamazoo Classic in Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States;

Murray finished 2-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Murray defeated William Nordine (Kalamazoo, MI) 9-2, then won 5-3 against Trevor Kraus (Kalamazoo, MI) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Kalamazoo Classic Championship title, Murray earned 6.598 world rankings points along with the $1,326CDN first prize cheque, moving up 397 spots the World Ranking Standings into 269th place overall with 6.598 total points. Murray ranks 132nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 6.598 points earned so far this season.
