Kaitlyn Jones wins New Scotland Clothing Ladies Cashspiel
Kaitlyn Jones (Chester, NS) wins the New Scotland Clothing Ladies Cashspiel, defeating Jill Brothers (Halifax, NS) 3-2 at the CFB Halifax CC in Halifax, Canada. Jones with Kristin Clarke at third, Karlee Burgess and Lindsey Burgess on the front end take home the $1,500CDN first place cheque along with 17.121 world ranking points, while Brothers receives $1,100CDN and 13.452 world ranking points for their second place finish. Starting with hammer, Jones blanked the first 4 ends, then got on the board scoring 1 in the fifth end to open the scoring, then added a steal in the sixth end. Brothers scored 2 in the seventh end to tie the game with Jones scoring a single in the eighth end for the 3-2 win. In the semifinals, Jones defeated Julie McEvoy (Halifax, NS) 6-4 and Brothers defeated Mary Myketyn-Driscoll (Halifax, NS) 6-2. McEvoy and Myketyn-Driscoll earned $800CDN and 10.395 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. Jones went 4-0 in the 10 team round robin pools qualifying round. In their opening game, Jones defeated Myketyn-Driscoll 4-3, then won against Marg Cutcliffe (Halifax, NS) 8-2, Theresa Breen (Halifax, NS) 5-0, and Isabelle Ladouceur (Halifax, NS) 5-4 in their final qualifying round match. |
