Marla Mallett (Vancouver, BC) 9-4, then won 8-6 against British Columbia's Kristie Moore. Richards went on to lose 7-4 against Russia's Liudmila Privivkova. Richards lost 9-0 to British Columbia's Shannon Aleksic where Richards responded with a 9-5 win over LeeAnne Ursel (Kelowna, BC). Richards won 7-5 against Japan's Yukako Tsuchiya in their final qualifying round match.
