Penny Shantz (Vernon, BC) finished 1-3 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shantz lost 7-5 to Japan's Moe Meguro, droppimg another game, 8-7 to Amanda Nordin (Kamloops, BC) where Shantz responded with a 9-8 win over Marla Mallett (New Westminster, BC). Shantz went on to lose 8-7 against Pat Sanders (Victoria, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
