Darren Smale (Kamloops, BC) 9-4, then went on to lose 8-7 against Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB). Pierce responded with a 7-2 win over Japan's Hiro Kashiwagi. Pierce won 6-5 against Dave Boehmer (Winnipeg, MB), then won 8-4 against Scott DeCap (Kamloops, BC) and 7-5 against Mark Johnson (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Twin Anchors Houseboat / Prestige Inns Cashspiel Championship title, Pierce earned 0.000 world rankings points along with the $12,000CDN first prize cheque.
