Denmark's Johnny Frederiksen 9-3, then won 8-5 against Sweden's Anders Kraupp and 9-3 against Australia's Hugh Millikin. Martin won 8-2 against France's Thomas Dufour, then won 6-5 against Scotland's David Murdoch and 9-8 against Norway's Thomas Ulsrud. Martin won 9-4 against Germany's Andy Kapp. Martin went on to lose 6-5 against Fengchun Wang (Harbin, CHN). Martin responded with a 6-1 win over Jiri Snitil (Prague, CZE). Martin won 8-6 against 34136, then won 10-4 against Craig Brown (Madison, USA) in their final qualifying round match.
