Shawn Joyce (Saskatoon, SK) finished 5-1 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Joyce defeated
Murray Woodward (Ste. Anne, MB) 7-4, then won 5-0 against Randy Dutiaume (Winnipeg, MB). Joyce went on to lose 6-2 against Allan Lyburn (Brandon, MB). Joyce responded with a 8-7 win over Richard Muntain (Carberry, MB). Joyce won 7-4 against Chris Galbraith (Winnipeg, MB), then won 7-6 against Manitoba's Neal Watkins in their final qualifying round match.
 
Joyce earned 3.300 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Whites' Drug Store Curling Classic. For week of the event schedule, Joyce did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Joyce ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
