Sherry Middaugh (Coldwater, ON) finished 5-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Middaugh defeated Sylvie Robichaud (Moncton, NB) 9-2, then won 8-7 against Eve Belisle (Montreal, PQ) and 5-3 against Cheryl Bernard (Calgary, AB). Middaugh went on to lose 5-4 against Bingyu Wang (Harbin, CHN). Middaugh responded with a 7-4 win over Donna Butler (Charlottetown, PEI). Middaugh won 5-3 against Heather Strong (St. John, NL) in their final qualifying round match.

Middaugh earned 22.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Sobeys Slam. For week of the event schedule, Middaugh did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Middaugh ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
