Krista McCarville (Thunder Bay, ON) finished 4-3 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McCarville lost 4-3 to Andrea Crawford (Fredericton, NB), then responded with a 5-2 win over Karen Fallis (Winnipeg, MB). McCarville went on to lose 10-0 against Eve Belisle (Montreal, PQ). McCarville responded with a 6-5 win over Renee Sonnenberg (Grande Prairie, AB). McCarville won 6-5 against Sylvie Robichaud (Moncton, NB), then won 8-3 against Alison Goring (Thornhill, ON). McCarville went on to lose 7-6 against Heather Rankin (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

McCarville earned 6.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week of the event schedule, McCarville did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. McCarville ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
