McCleary lost 7-4 to Scotland's Tom Brewster where McCleary responded with a 8-7 win over Scotland's Alan Smith. McCleary went on to lose 8-3 against Scotland's Colin Hamilton. McCleary lost 7-5 to Scotland's David Murdoch. McCleary lost 8-7 to Scotland's Peter Loudon in their final qualifying round match.
