Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) finished 2-3 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Kerry Burtnyk (Winnipeg, MB) 9-3, then went on to lose 9-7 against Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB). Gushue lost 7-6 to Wayne Middaugh (Toronto, ON). Gushue lost 8-5 to Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) where Gushue responded with a 11-8 win over Russ Howard (Moncton, NB) in their final qualifying round match.

Gushue earned 6.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week of the event schedule, Gushue did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Gushue ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
