Scotland's David Murdoch won 7-6 over Kevin Martin (Edmonton, CAN) in the Final of the Ford World Men's Curling Championship, held April 3 - 12, 2009 in Moncton, New Brunswick.
 
Scotland's David Murdoch finished 8-3 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Scotland's David Murdoch lost 10-7 to Switzerland's Ralph Stöckli, then responded with a 12-6 win over John Shuster (Duluth, USA). Scotland's David Murdoch won 11-8 against Germany's Andy Kapp, then won 7-2 against Finland's Kalle Kiiskinen and 7-5 against Japan's Yusuke Morozumi. Scotland's David Murdoch went on to lose 9-7 against Fengchun Wang (Harbin, CHN). Scotland's David Murdoch lost 5-4 to Czech Republic's Jiri Snitil where Scotland's David Murdoch responded with a 9-1 win over France's Thomas Dufour. Scotland's David Murdoch won 6-5 against Norway's Thomas Ulsrud, then won 11-3 against Denmark's Ulrik Schmidt and 6-5 against Martin in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Ford World Men's Curling Championship Championship title, Scotland's David Murdoch earned 40.000 world rankings points. For week of the event schedule, Scotland's David Murdoch did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
