Carruthers Reaches 2009 Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic Quarters

Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) qualified for the 2009 Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 6-4 against Kerry Burtnyk (Winnipeg, MB). of the 2009 Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada;
 
Carruthers finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Carruthers defeated Glen Muirhead (Perth, SCO) 6-5, then won 6-1 against Don Spriggs (Portage la Prairie, MB). Carruthers went on to lose 6-1 against Wayne Middaugh (Toronto, ON). Carruthers lost 6-5 to Jason Gunnlaugson (Beausejour, MB) where Carruthers responded with a 8-5 win over William Lyburn (Brandon, MB). Carruthers won 7-1 against Josh Heidt (Kindersley, SK), then won 4-3 against Muirhead in their final qualifying round match.
 
Carruthers earned 12.690 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic.
