Robert Desjardins (Saguenay, PQ) qualified for the 2009 Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 4-3 against Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB).
 
Desjardins finished 4-0 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Desjardins defeated David Bohn (Winnipeg, MB) 7-2, then won 5-3 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Beausejour, MB) and 7-6 against Randy Dutiaume (Winnipeg, MB). Desjardins won 6-4 against Mark Dacey (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Desjardins earned 12.690 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic. For week of the event schedule, Desjardins did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Desjardins ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
