Fenson went on to lose 5-3 against Glen Muirhead (Perth, SCO). Fenson responded with a 8-5 win over Vic Peters (Winnipeg, MB). Fenson won 6-5 against David Bohn (Winnipeg, MB). Fenson went on to lose 8-3 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Beausejour, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Fenson earned 4.230 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
