Allan Lyburn (Brandon, MB) qualified for the 2009 Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-2 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Beausejour, MB). of the 2009 Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada;
 
Lyburn finished 5-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Lyburn defeated Saskatchewan's Shawn Joyce 6-3, then went on to lose 8-5 against Wayne Middaugh (Toronto, ON). Lyburn responded with a 6-3 win over Murray Woodward (Ste. Anne, MB). Lyburn won 6-1 against Scott Madams (Winnipeg, MB), then won 7-1 against Dave Elias (Winnipeg, MB) and 6-2 against Glen Muirhead (Perth, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Lyburn earned 12.690 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic. For week of the event schedule, Lyburn did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
