Wayne Middaugh (Toronto, ON) qualified for the 2009 Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 8-2 against Dave Elias (Winnipeg, MB). of the 2009 Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada;
 
Middaugh finished 4-0 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Middaugh defeated Dave Boehmer (Petersfield, MB) 6-4, then won 8-5 against Allan Lyburn (Brandon, MB) and 6-1 against Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB). Middaugh won 5-4 against Kerry Burtnyk (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Middaugh earned 12.690 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic.
