Don Spriggs (Portage la Prairie, MB) finished 4-3 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Spriggs defeated Josh Heidt (Kindersley, SK) 5-2, then went on to lose 6-1 against Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB). Spriggs lost 7-2 to Dave Elias (Winnipeg, MB) where Spriggs responded with a 6-5 win over Murray Woodward (Ste. Anne, MB). Spriggs won 10-6 against Joel Jordison (Moose Jaw, SK), then won 6-3 against Mark Dacey (Halifax, NS). Spriggs went on to lose 5-3 against Elias in their final qualifying round match.
 
Spriggs earned 4.230 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week of the event schedule, Spriggs did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Spriggs ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
