Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB) run at the 2009 Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic came to an end in the semifinals with a 7-4 loss to Jason Gunnlaugson (Beausejour, MB). of the 2009 Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada; Stoughton advanced through the quarterfinals with a 4-3 win over Robert Desjardins (Saguenay, PQ).
 
Stoughton finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stoughton lost 5-3 to Mark Dacey (Halifax, NS), then responded with a 6-4 win over Brendan Taylor (Winnipeg, MB). Stoughton won 6-3 against Vic Peters (Winnipeg, MB), then won 7-1 against Joel Jordison (Moose Jaw, SK) and 6-1 against Gunnlaugson. Stoughton went on to lose 8-4 against Kerry Burtnyk (Winnipeg, MB). Stoughton responded with a 7-4 win over Peter Nicholls (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Stoughton earned 16.920 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Meyers Norris Penny Prairie Classic. For week of the event schedule, Stoughton did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
