Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB) qualified for the 2009 Cactus Pheasant Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-3 against Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON).

Appelman finished 4-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Appelman lost 5-4 to Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK), then responded with a 6-2 win over Scott Egger (Brooks, AB). Appelman went on to lose 6-1 against Sean Geall (New Westminster, BC). Appelman responded with a 6-0 win over John Shuster (Duluth, MN). Appelman won 4-3 against Markus Eggler (Basel, SUI), then won 6-4 against Bob Ursel (Kelowna, BC) in their final qualifying round match.

Appelman earned 15.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Cactus Pheasant Classic. For week of the event schedule, Appelman did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Appelman ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
