Fengchun Wang (Harbin, CHN) qualified for the 2009 Cactus Pheasant Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 6-5 against Randy Ferbey (Edmonton, AB). of the 2009 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta;

Wang finished 5-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Wang lost 6-4 to Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB), then responded with a 8-7 win over Steve Petryk (Calgary, AB). Wang won 7-5 against Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB). Wang went on to lose 5-3 against Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK). Wang responded with a 8-7 win over Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB). Wang won 7-2 against Wayne Middaugh (Toronto, ON), then won 7-5 against Sean Geall (New Westminster, BC) in their final qualifying round match.

Wang earned 15.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Cactus Pheasant Classic. For week of the event schedule, Wang did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Wang ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
