Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) qualified for the 2009 Radisson SAS Oslo Cup playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 4-3 against Norway's Pal Trulsen. of the 2009 Radisson SAS Oslo Cup in Oslo, Norway;
 
McEwen finished 3-1 in the 25-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Japan's Yusuke Morozumi 4-3, then went on to lose 8-2 against Switzerland's Stefan Karnusian. McEwen responded with a 7-4 win over Hungary's Gyeorgy Nagy. McEwen won 5-4 against Norway's Thomas Lovold in their final qualifying round match.
