Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) qualified for the 2009 Lucerne Curling Trophy playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 9-1 against Thomas Lovold (Oslo, NOR). of the 2009 Lucerne Curling Trophy in Lucerne, Switzerland;
 
Edin finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Edin lost 6-4 to Claudio Pescia (St. Galler, SUI), then responded with a 5-1 win over Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR). Edin won 8-4 against Peter Loudon (Perth, SCO), then won 6-1 against Switzerland's Florian Meister and 8-3 against Germany's Daniel Neuner in their final qualifying round match.
 
Edin earned 7.950 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Lucerne Curling Trophy.
