Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB) qualified for the 2009 September Shoot-Out playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-4 against Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK).

Appelman finished 5-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Appelman defeated Mike Jantzen (Calgary, AB) 9-2, then won 5-4 against Bob Ursel (Kelowna, BC) and 6-4 against Shawn Joyce (Saskatoon, SK). Appelman won 6-2 against Matt Yeo (Edmonton, AB), then won 8-5 against Wade White (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

Appelman earned 10.050 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the September Shoot-Out. For week of the event schedule, Appelman did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Appelman ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
