Wald responded with a 7-4 win over Matt Birklid (Fairbanks, AK). Wald went on to lose 6-5 against Evan Workin (Fargo, ND). Wald responded with a 8-4 win over Tyler Runing (North Mankato, MN). Wald went on to lose 9-3 against Tom Gabower (Janesville, WI). Wald responded with a 4-3 win over Alex Leichter (Wayland, MA). Wald won 8-4 against Dropkin, then won 10-9 against John Landsteiner (Trempealeau, WI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the US Junior Mens Nationals Championship title, Wald earned 8.000 world rankings points, moving up 65 spots the World Ranking Standings into 119th place overall with 15.900 total points. Wald ranks 100th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 10.600 points earned so far this season.
