Stoughton finished 5-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stoughton defeated Dwayne Fowler (Prescott, ON) 6-4, then won 8-3 against Matt Paul (Sault Ste Marie, ON) and 8-4 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Moscow, RUS). Stoughton won 6-3 against Wayne Tuck Jr. (Strathroy, ON), then won 8-2 against Pierre Charette (Gatineau, PQ) in their final qualifying round match.
