Don Walchuk (Edmonton, AB) lost 8-6 to Dean Ross (Calgary, AB) in the Final of the World Financial Group Classic, held September 24 - 27, 2010 at the Garrison Curling Club in Calgary, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Walchuk won 7-3 over Brock Virtue (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2010 World Financial Group Classic in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and won 6-2 over Brent Bawel (Calgary, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2010 World Financial Group Classic in Calgary, Alberta, Canada;
 
Walchuk finished 3-1 in the 17-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Walchuk lost 9-8 to Lloyd Hill (Calgary, AB), then responded with a 10-1 win over Steve Petryk (Calgary, AB). Walchuk won 8-3 against Steve Mackey (Calgary, AB), then won 8-5 against Terry Meek (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the World Financial Group Classic, Walchuk take home 8.250 world rankings points along with the $3,000CDN prize. For week 3 of the event schedule, Walchuk did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Walchuk ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
