Cotter finished 5-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Cotter defeated
Stephen Kopf (New Westminster, BC) 5-3, then won
6-2 against
Andrey Drozdov (Moscow, RUS) and
8-4 against
Randy Ferbey (St. Johns, NL). Cotter went on to lose
5-4 against
Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB). Cotter responded with a
6-4 win over
Jason Montgomery (Duncan, BC). Cotter won
7-0 against
Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
Cotter earned
20.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Westcoast Curling Classic, moving up 1 spots the
