Thomas Dufour (Chamonix, FRA) finished 3-3 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Dufour defeated Alexey Tselousov (Moscow, RUS) 5-3, then won 6-4 against Thomas Due (Oslo, NOR). Dufour went on to lose 6-3 against Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR). Dufour lost 6-1 to David Murdoch (Lockerbie, SCO) where Dufour responded with a 7-6 win over Czech Republic's Michal Vojtus. Dufour went on to lose 8-3 against Finland's Markku Uusipaavalniemi in their final qualifying round match.
