Hammy McMillan (Stranraer, SCO) lost 6-5 to Switzerland's Thomas Lips in the Final of the Bern Open, held October 22 - 24, 2010 in Bern, Switzerland. To advance to the championship game, McMillan won 5-3 over David Murdoch (Lockerbie, SCO) in the semifinals of the 2010 Bern Open in Bern, Switzerland; and won 7-1 over Sweden's Per Carlsen in the quarterfinals. of the 2010 Bern Open in Bern, Switzerland;
 
McMillan finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McMillan defeated Hungary's Gabor Riesz 4-3, then won 4-3 against Switzerland's Patrick Vuille. McMillan went on to lose 5-3 against Duncan Fernie (Perth, SCO). McMillan lost 7-2 to Switzerland's Christof Schwaller where McMillan responded with a 4-2 win over Thomas Lovold (Oslo, NOR). McMillan won 7-2 against Switzerland's Claudio Pescia, then won 4-2 against Sweden's Marcus Hasselborg in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Bern Open, McMillan take home 12.400 world rankings points along with the $7,879CDN prize, moving up 16 spots the World Ranking Standings into 41st place overall with 40.550 total points. McMillan ranks 39th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 18.790 points earned so far this season.
