Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN) 6-2, then won 6-4 against Heath McCormick (New York, NY). Menard went on to lose 7-5 against John Epping (Toronto, ON). Menard responded with a 8-4 win over Dale Matchett (Bradford, ON). Menard went on to lose 6-2 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB). Menard lost 7-3 to Mark Bice (Sarnia, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Menard earned 5.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 9th place overall with 163.320 total points. Menard ranks 10th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 68.510 points earned so far this season.
