Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) qualified for the 2011 Victoria Curling Classic Invitational playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 4-2 against Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON). of the 2011 Victoria Curling Classic Invitational in Victoria, British Columbia;
 
Cotter finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Cotter defeated Brent Pierce (New Westminster, BC) 9-3, then went on to lose 9-3 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB). Cotter lost 8-3 to Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK) where Cotter responded with a 5-1 win over Braeden Moskowy (Regina, SK). Cotter won 7-4 against Jason Montgomery (Duncan, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Cotter earned 9.660 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Victoria Curling Classic Invitational, remaining in 9th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 212.330 total points. Cotter ranks 12th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 89.780 points earned so far this season.
