Johnston won 4-2 against Thomas Scoffin (Whitehorse, YK). Johnston went on to lose 10-7 against Mathew Camm (Ottawa, ON). Johnston lost 7-6 to Jon Rennie (Fredericton, NB) where Johnston responded with a 11-10 win over Kendal Thompson (Halifax, NS). Johnston went on to lose 8-2 against Colin Thomas (St. John's, NL) in their final qualifying round match.
