In their opening game, Paulsen lost 8-6 to Erika Brown (Madison, WI), then responded with a 6-4 win over Crystal Webster (Calgary, AB). Paulsen went on to lose 9-6 against Saskatchewan's Heather Burnett. Paulsen lost 6-5 to Kathy O'Rourke (Charlottetown, PEI). Paulsen lost 5-3 to Jill Thurston (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
