Thurston finished 5-0 in the 30-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Thurston defeated Kathy O'Rourke (Charlottetown, PEI) 8-2, then won 9-3 against Erika Brown (Madison, WI) and 5-4 against Crystal Webster (Calgary, AB).
