Mike Assad (Thunder Bay, NONT) needed a tiebreaker to advance to the playoffs, Assad finished 7-4 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Assad defeated
Mike Pozihun (Thunder Bay, NONT) 7-4, then won 9-3 against David MacInnes (Englehart, NONT). Assad went on to lose 6-4 against Mike Jakubo (Copper Cliff, NONT). Assad responded with a 9-6 win over Robbie Gordon (Sudbury, NONT). Assad went on to lose 9-6 against Joe Scharf (Thunder Bay, ON). Assad lost 8-7 to Bryan Burgess (Thunder Bay, NONT) where Assad responded with a 8-6 win over Dustin Montpellier (North Bay, NONT). Assad won 8-4 against Tim Nordin (Stratton, NONT), then won 8-5 against John Salo (Geraldton, NONT) and 8-4 against Jeff Currie (Thunder Bay, NONT). Assad went on to lose 7-6 against Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Assad earned 2.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the The Dominion Northern Ontario Mens Provincials, moving up 27 spots the World Ranking Standings into 175th place overall with 9.125 total points. Assad ranks 150th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 6.000 points earned so far this season.
