Laycock won 8-7 against Eddie MacKenzie (Charlottetown, PEI). Laycock went on to lose 11-3 against Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB). Laycock lost 7-6 to Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB). Laycock lost 6-4 to James Grattan (Oromocto, NB). Laycock lost 6-3 to Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Laycock earned 8.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 12th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 1.31 after improving upon their best so far this season.
