Cotter lost 6-4 to Steve Laycock (Regina, SK) where Cotter responded with a 7-5 win over James Grattan (Oromocto, NB). Cotter won 8-7 against Francois Gagne (Montreal, QC). Cotter went on to lose 6-5 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, Y/NWT). Cotter responded with a 7-1 win over Eddie MacKenzie (Charlottetown, PEI). Cotter went on to lose 6-5 against Shawn Adams (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Cotter earned 8.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 9th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 202.670 total points. Cotter ranks 16th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 80.120 points earned so far this season.
