Chen lost 7-1 to Switzerland's Christof Schwaller. Chen lost 5-3 to Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO). Chen lost 10-3 to Thomas Dufour (Chamonix, FRA) where Chen responded with a 9-6 win over Korea's Dong-Keun Lee. Chen won 5-4 against Pete Fenson (Bemidji, USA). Chen went on to lose 5-4 against Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, CAN). Chen lost 3-1 to Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Chen earned 8.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 31 of the event schedule, Chen did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Chen ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
