Ulsrud lost 7-4 to Switzerland's Christof Schwaller where Ulsrud responded with a 7-6 win over Pete Fenson (Bemidji, USA). Ulsrud won 9-2 against Denmark's Tommy Stjerne, then won 7-5 against Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO) and 3-1 against Luan Chen (Harbin, CHN). Ulsrud won 7-6 against Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, CAN) in their final qualifying round match.
