In their opening game, Allen defeated Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN) 7-4, then won 7-1 against Pierre Charette (Saguenay, PQ) and 6-5 against Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste. Marie, ON). Allen won 7-6 against Desjardins, then won 6-0 against Ken Thompson (Kingston, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
