Daryl Shane (Kitchener, ON) lost 6-4 to Jake Higgs (Harriston, ON) in the Final of the Barrie Sleeman Cash Spiel, held October 13 - 16, 2011 at the Barrie Curling Club in Barrie, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Shane won 9-6 over Greg Balsdon (Kingston, ON) in the semifinals of the 2011 Barrie Sleeman Cash Spiel in Barrie, Ontario, Canada; and won 6-5 over Ontario's Dale Matchett in the quarterfinals. of the 2011 Barrie Sleeman Cash Spiel in Barrie, Ontario, Canada;
 
Shane finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shane defeated John Bell (Unionville, ON) 10-1, then won 6-3 against Balsdon and 3-2 against Ontario's Wayne Warren. Shane went on to lose 5-4 against Ontario's Dale Matchett. Shane lost 6-3 to Cory Heggestad (Barrie, ON) where Shane responded with a 7-0 win over Dennis Moretto (Woodbridge, ON). Shane won 5-2 against Jeff Clark (Cobourg, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Barrie Sleeman Cash Spiel, Shane take home 7.280 world rankings points along with the $2,800CDN prize. For week 9 of the event schedule, Shane did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Shane ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
