Jake Higgs (Harriston, ON) won 6-4 over Daryl Shane (Kitchener, ON) in the Final of the Barrie Sleeman Cash Spiel, held October 13 - 16, 2011 at the Barrie Curling Club in Barrie, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Higgs won 7-5 over Mike Jakubo (Sudbury, ON) in the semifinals of the 2011 Barrie Sleeman Cash Spiel in Barrie, Ontario, Canada; and won 7-2 over Peter Corner (Brampton, ON) in the quarterfinals.
 
Higgs finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Higgs defeated Andrew Thompson (Stroud, ON) 8-6, then won 7-6 against Jeff Clark (Cobourg, ON) and 8-6 against Denis Belanger (Toronto, ON). Higgs went on to lose 6-2 against Corner. Higgs lost 8-1 to Chris Gardner (Ottawa, ON) where Higgs responded with a 8-4 win over Willie MacPherson (Alliston, ON). Higgs won 8-2 against Ontario's Michael Shepherd in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Barrie Sleeman Cash Spiel Championship title, Higgs earned 10.400 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 18th place overall with 82.529 total points. Higgs ranks 6th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 43.830 points earned so far this season.
