In their opening game, Higgs defeated Wayne Warren (Oshawa, ON) 8-1, then won 6-1 against Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN) and 7-1 against Ontario's Peter Corner. Higgs went on to lose 8-4 against John Epping (Toronto, ON). Higgs lost 7-6 to Ontario's Rob Lobel. Higgs lost 7-1 to Fenson in their final qualifying round match.
